Read what the cat says today...Hmm. Read shi gong's blog for the first time. And there's this short..commentary he copied from dunno where. Hmm. Shall give my two pence worth of view.
Now being the new year, Singapore has faithfully carried out the promise to catch anyone who downloads in bulk(quoting the commentary, it means >100mb). Because those production house and artistes are complaining that there hard labour, creativity, and MOST IMPORTANTLY their PAY, had been seriously infringed. Now. If, everyone cut their cost, like, not to make movies cost so expensive, they wouldn't have to make everyone pay so much to watch rite? Or pay so much to buy right? Or maybe they'll say, "But that's not possible!" Fine, then I guess they've never heard of this Chinese phrase, 薄利多销? Which essentially means, sell cheap and you'll sell more? Anyway, I know many people will say no, citing many reasons(which pisses me la huh). Digress. So, why should all these stars deserve such high pay? Because they spend odd hours working? Because they spend many hours on a project? Because they spend alot of money on making themselves glamourous? If they can't make what they work for available for everyone, then I don't think they deserve such status. Because now, it seems as though only those who can afford can only have entertainment. Then they are no doing things beneficial to human race. Then why WHY make them seem like some royalties? Why treat them so well? Why keep letting them earn OUR HARD EARNED MONEY EASILY?
Then why aren't scientists or academics earning as much, when OBVIOUSLY they are the ones doing more good for the humanity? We also spend odd hours at work, we also spend many hours, in fact months and years on a research, so WHY AREN'T SCIENTISTS EARNING AS MUCH? I don't give damn about the glamour and all those BULLSHIT and the pay, but it just doesn't make sense, does it?
The world just isn't fair. Maybe you'll say, if one can afford a broadband shouldn't they afford to watch a show? They definitely can, but what about a TV series? When the free-to-air TV don't show the newest shows, and it's too expensive to buy, the only alternative is to download, no? Yes we know it's illegal, but IT'S YOU PEOPLE WHO MADE THE PRICE SO HIGH, WHO CAN BUY? ONLY THE RICH. So that's why I am saying, it seems as if the rich can afford decent entertainment, and the poor, shall continue to be poor, with no entertainment. That's why you see the Third World Countries have ever blooming population. No entertainment.
Of course, writing here wouldn't do anything to change things locally, especially when now, the free-to-air TV is controlled by the LOUSY MediaBLOODYCorp, who will forever screen shows that runs its course for at least four times. Debut shows are, far and between. What can I say? No money for cable. So I cut down on watching TV now. Because I don't want my memory to be assaulted, wondering how many times have I seen a certain show being screened.
